THE DREAM
I was very angry at George W. but then I had a dream in which I was Laura Bush.
In the dream I felt affection for George and was so grateful to him for making me the First Lady.
Still, as I looked at him, I felt pity for him because I knew he was really doing a bad job and history would judge him very harshly.
Because even I, his wife, knew how bad his policies were, I told him I could not vote for him in the upcoming election.
However, I suddenly realized I liked being First Lady and if he lost the election, all the fun would stop.
I still remember my desire - as Laura - to work for his re-election even as I knew it was for entirely selfish reasons, because being the First Lady was so much fun and I sure didn't want to give it up.
Since that dreaming experience I haven't been able to be angry at George W. But I sure despise his politics.
I think, however, that was the point of the dream. Hate the politics and policies all you want. But don't hate the people no matter how much they tick you off.
